Pre-Production Paperwork

PRE-PRODUCTION PAPERWORK

For one of our main productions for this unit, we must film/edit a trailer or a two-minute sequence following a script that one of our classmates has written. This person (the writer of the elected script) will not be in the group that is filming there’s, to prevent control over it as it is about interpretation.

The people in my group were myself, Hollie, Callum, Lewis, Lovelle and Wes. Firstly, we read the scripts and chose between two. The chosen one was then re-read and then we combined different scenes (scene 5 and 7) to film for the two-minute sequence. After, we devised roles and my roles ended up being the director, an actress and one of the editors. Being director meant I had the final say after compiling the team’s visions together, and I created a storyboard to bring our visions to life. The story board is so the rest of the crew can understand more what shots we are filming and how they are done. Within the storyboard, I added possible shot types in the description box below the visual, so it gives us a starting point on cinematography.

The locations chosen are based within Rochester. There are three locations; under the tunnel, the street and the flat, meaning three risk assessments had to be completed and then signed off. Lewis and Lovelle completed these. This shows that where we are filming has been agreed upon for everyone’s safety and wellbeing. Along the risk assessments and more discussion, Callum completed a call sheet which gives organisation to the crew so we know where to meet, how many hours we are filming, and any other relevant information may be important such as sunset and weather temperature.

After doing the paperwork we collectively agreed on the equipment we will need and booked it out (26th November – 3rd December) for shoot week. This includes a camera, tripod, boom mic, battery led lights and a sound recorder.
